Become a Mentor

Widener Law Commonwealth’s Mentorship Program pairs students with qualified alumni and friends to take part in short, informal mentoring relationships. The goal is to introduce law students to the profession. Students are exposed to legal practice, grow in professionalism, and begin to develop a network of contacts early in their legal careers. Click here to Sign up on the Mentorship Program website to express your interest in becoming a mentor.

Requirements

Program guidelines are simple and requirements minimal. Mentors and mentees are matched based on common professional interests and factors such as practice preference and geographic region. Pairs are asked to have at least three contacts during the academic year, although mentors and mentees may agree to have more. Often, mentoring relationships continue beyond the student's law school career.

Your Role as Mentor

As a mentor, you can share advice on topics including success in law school, areas of legal practice, ethical issues, and the role of lawyers and judges in the profession. We offer helpful tips to guide you in getting started and in planning activities with your mentee.

The program provides an excellent opportunity to help shape the future of the profession, strengthen the law school network, and make a positive difference in the development of a future colleague.
