Professor and Scholar in Residence attend UN Climate Conference

Professor John Dernbach and Scholar in Residence Don Brown attended the UN Climate Talks in Paris, France held November 30 - December 11, 2015. Both Dernbach and Brown presented research and moderated discussions that were held at the event.

Presented at the conference was research that was conducted in conjunction with the University of Auckland and Widener Law Commonwealth which concluded that when most nations have formulated national climate change policies not only the nations, but also the NGOs and media in most nations, have failed to seriously consider the equity, ethical, and justice considerations that should guide national climate change policy.

The "lessons learned" from this research are the basis for 21 recommendations on how national climate commitments under the United National Framework Convention on Climate Change should be reformed. The project's 'lessons learned" and "recommendations" are summarized on Brown’s blog ethicsandclimate.org.

The reports on the 26 countries involved in the research, as well as the "lessons learned" and "recommendations' can also be found on the project website nationalclimatejustice.org.
