This award will honor an alumnus or alumna of Widener University Commonwealth Law School who has exhibited excellence in public service.
EXCELLENCE IN PUBLIC SERVICE AWARD
In 2016, Widener Law Commonwealth was selected as one of the top law schools for public service. Since its founding, Widener Law Commonwealth has fostered and celebrated contributions to government law. This award, sponsored by the Law and Government Institute, continues and enhances that tradition by highlighting the impact of our alumni on the public sector.
Nominees must be graduates of Widener Law Commonwealth's graduating classes of 2021 or earlier. The honoree will be selected by a committee consisting of the law school dean, representatives of the Law and Government Institute, and other members of the Widener community. The honoree will be notified prior to the annual Evening at the Capitol event, at which the award will be presented. That event is held mid-November each year.
While nominees must be alumni of Widener Law Commonwealth, anyone may nominate one of our graduates. The selection criteria focuses on the nature and impact of the nominee’s contributions to public service.
Nominations for 2026 will be accepted until September 15, 2026.
