For faculty and staff ringing in the holiday season by collecting for the Salvation Army is a tradition at Widener Law Commonwealth.
Since 2007 the faculty and staff have been ringing the bells at the red kettle for the Salvation Army Harrisburg Capital Region to support families in need. Giving back is a key focus of the law schools, and students, faculty and staff are encouraged to help organizations in the community throughout the year.
This year, our bell ringers raised $488.18, which is the equivalent of 195 hot breakfasts, or two new school uniforms each for 24 kids in need. The Salvation Army provides food assistance, educational programs for children, toys at Christmas and services for the elderly.
Our bell ringers this year were: Professor Anna Hemingway, Sandy Graeff, Professor Mary Kate Kearney, Commonwealth Professor of Business Law Juliet Moringiello, and Professor Chris Robinette.
Professor Robinette has served on the local Salvation Army Corp Advisory Board since 2005. He was the chair from 2010-2012.
