Professor presents about US immigration law in Spain

This summer, Commonwealth Professor of Law and Government Jill E. Family, Director of the Law and Government Institute, presented on the topic of US immigration law in Spain.

Professor Family spoke in Madrid and San Sebastian. In Madrid, she presented to the law faculties of Universidad Rey Juan Carlos and Universidad Complutense De Madrid.

In San Sebastian, Professor Family spoke at a summer course organized by universities and the Basque government. The course was about European human rights law, including the legal dynamics between European Union law and the legal systems of the individual EU member states.  Professor Family’s presentation focused on providing an American perspective by examining the role of the US Constitution in immigration law.  Other professors presenting were from Italy, France and Spain. Professor Family was the only American to present during the course.

“It was an honor to visit with outstanding European law professors and to have the opportunity to share knowledge about some complicated legal questions,” said Professor Family.  “I not only had the chance to inform them about US law, but also about Widener Law Commonwealth and our Law and Government Institute.”
