Two Widener Law Commonwealth legal methods professors received grants for proposals submitted earlier this year to professional organizations. Submissions for the grants were open to legal methods faculty from across the globe.
Legal Writing Professor Amanda Smith was awarded a $5,000 scholarship grant from the Legal Writing Institute/Association of Legal Writing Directors. The grant is for the article she is writing titled “Say What?”: A How-To Guide on Providing Formative Assessment to Law Students Through Live Critique."
Additionally, Professor Anna Hemingway received a $2,000 teaching grant from the Association of Legal Writing Directors for her work on "Incorporating Lessons of Diversity in the Legal Writing Classroom." Her work will result in lesson plans that will be presented to the legal writing community and incorporated into legal methods programs at other law schools.
