Evening at the Capitol 2019: Widener Law Commonwealth Celebrates Two Milestones and Honors PA Supreme Court Prothonotary

Join Widener University Commonwealth Law School Dean Christian A. Johnson, the four leaders of Pennsylvania’s political caucuses, and members of the law school faculty for a celebration of its alumni and its longstanding commitment to training attorneys for public service.

This year’s event is particularly special; the law school is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its founding and the launch of its noted Law & Government Institute 20 years ago.

President Pro Tempore of the Senate, Senator Joe Scarnati, Speaker of the House Representative Mike Turzai, Senate Democratic Floor Leader Senator Jay Costa, and House Democratic Floor Leader Representative Frank Dermody are co-hosting the event.

Irene Bizzoso ’92 will be given the Excellence in Public Service Award. Bizzoso is the Prothonotary of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and a member of Widener Law Commonwealth’s inaugural class.  The award recognizes Bizzoso’s long and outstanding record of public service, including 22 years with the Supreme Court, a leadership role with the national organization for appellate court clerks, membership since 1999 of the James S. Bowman American Inn of Court, and extensive commitments to a number of other government, judicial and legal organizations.

Complimentary hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served.

RSVP is required by clicking here to register or calling the Office of Development and Alumni Engagement at 717.541.3974.
