Extended division student Janis Jeffreys accepts judicial clerkship in Lancaster County

Janis Jeffreys, who is graduating in December of 2021, has accepted a full-time position working as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable David R. Workman at the Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas. Her clerkship begins at the end of August and will be for a 1-year term with an option for a second year.  Judge Workman oversees matters related to family law including divorce, civil custody and child support, dependency, and juvenile delinquency.

Jeffreys is the former President and current Vice President of Academic & Social Affairs of the school's Moot Court Honor Society.  She is also a former Associate Staff Editor and current Business & External Managing Editor of the Widener Commonwealth Law Review.

"When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Since losing my externship position in trademark law due to the pandemic, I have been searching for a new position where I can apply what I have learned in law school while expanding my legal career horizons.

Having served as a part-time, unpaid intern for Judge Workman last summer after my other externship fell through, I must have made a favorable impression. When the Judge needed a new, full-time law clerk in his chambers, he thought of me. The rest is history.

I am thrilled to have been hired as a judicial law clerk for Judge Workman. This clerkship will be a great launchpad for a successful law career post-graduation," Jeffreys said.
