Kellyn McGee appointed Special Advisor to American Bar Association Standing Committee on Professional Regulation
Widener University Commonwealth Law School Associate Professor Kellyn McGee has been appointed as a Special Advisor to the American Bar Association (ABA) Standing Committee on Professional Regulation. She recently completed a three-year term as a member of the Standing Committee on Professionalism.
"I am excited to serve on the committee and grateful for the appointment," said McGee. "I plan to use my unique experience as a teacher and writer in lawyer regulation and as a former bar regulator to aid in the committee's important work."
In this role, McGee will help address issues critical to lawyers, the ABA, and the public, contributing her expertise and commitment to advancing the goals of the Association. Her one-year term will commence following the adjournment of the 2024 ABA Annual Meeting on August 6.
"The American Bar Association's appointment of Professor Kellyn McGee is a testament to her incredible expertise in regulating our profession and exemplifies the excellence of our faculty at Widener Law Commonwealth," said Dean andré douglas pond cummings, who uses lower case in the spelling of his legal name. Professor McGee earned her juris doctor from Howard University Law School, where she served as special articles editor for the Howard Law Journal and received a merit scholarship. Prior to her tenure at Widener Law Commonwealth, she litigated lawyer discipline cases, provided advice on lawyer ethics rules, and served as the director of the Transition in Law Practice Program for the State Bar of Georgia. She also served as associate dean of students and associate professor at Savannah Law School, teaching legal ethics, civil procedure, and alternative dispute resolutions.
The ABA, founded in 1878, is dedicated to defending liberty and pursuing justice. It operates as a membership organization committed to setting legal and ethical standards for the nation.
