Michael Consedine ’94 Visit to Widener Law Commonwealth



Widener University Commonwealth Law School will welcome Michael F. Consedine ’94, Executive Vice President and Global Head of Government and Regulatory Affairs at Athene, for a day of engagement with students, faculty, and alumni on Thursday, March 19, 2026.

Consedine will deliver a featured presentation titled “Leadership, Regulation and the Future of Financial Services” in the Wolfberg Courtroom. Sponsored by the Widener Law Commonwealth Business Law Society and the Federal Bar Association, Middle District of Pennsylvania Chapter, the program will examine leadership in financial regulation and the evolving relationship between government oversight and the financial services industry.

Consedine brings extensive experience at the intersection of law, regulation, and public policy. He currently serves as Executive Vice President and Global Head of Government and Regulatory Affairs at Athene, where he leads the company’s external engagement strategy and manages relationships with insurance regulators and industry associations.

Prior to joining Athene, Consedine served as Chief Executive Officer of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) from 2017 to 2023, where he focused on strategic planning and policy development across state, federal, and international regulatory arenas. During his tenure, he was named to the Executive Committee of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors.

Earlier in his career, he served as Global Head of Government and Policy Affairs at Aegon and as Insurance Commissioner for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania from 2011 to 2015.

Consedine earned his Juris Doctor from Widener University Commonwealth Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in political science and journalism from James Madison University.
