Rebecca Waldemar

Assistant Clinical Professor of Law

Phone: 717.541.0320

“Underlying all my work with students is the goal of conveying to them the gravity of the work lawyers do and the obligations that come with that work.  I also endeavor to instill in them the importance of developing their professional identity in deciding the quality of their character and who they will be in their future roles.”

Professor Waldemar joined the Central Pennsylvania Law Clinic in 2017 where she practices and teaches civil law and litigation. She represents clients in landlord-tenant cases, unemployment compensation cases, estate planning, bankruptcy, and other general civil matters. In addition to representing clients before administrative agencies, the lower courts, and the court of Common Pleas, Professor Waldemar has argued cases before the Commonwealth Court and represented clients before the Superior Court.

In her work with students, Professor Waldemar guides them through the process of representing clients in all phases of civil matters from the initiation of a case through the final resolution. At the Clinic, she works to cultivate in students the skills they need to practice law such as strategic planning, persuasiveness, critical analysis, and creative problem solving in addition to teaching the basics of navigating the Court systems and civil procedure. Soft skills are also an important component of what is learned at the Clinic. Her goal in the Course is to provide to students the opportunity to not only develop practical skills, but to gain insight into how to be a successful attorney and build the confidence needed to be ready to practice after law school.

In addition to teaching the Clinic, Professor Waldemar teaches Law and Mindfulness. In that course, students are given effective tools for managing the sometimes intense demands and stress that can accompany a career in the legal field as well as tools that enhance the qualities, skills, and abilities lawyers need to do their work well. She has also taught Intensive Legal Analysis and Advanced Legal Analysis. Prior to Joining the Law School, Professor Waldemar filled several roles at the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission including as legal counsel in the office of Commissioner and as a hearing examiner.
